Artist: Ketti Camus. Medium: Decoupage. Frame size: 39x49cm. Signed by the artist. Comes with a certificate of authenticity. Ketti Camus is one of a small group of young, Israeli artists who have distinguished themselves in their works. The focus of their art encompasses a variety of Jewish and universal concepts. Ketti was born in Safed. She studied art and design. She has made Safed her home, both living and working in the Old City. Her interest in art began as a young girl, influenced by the magic of Safed. Today, her artwork is an expression of her way of life. Ketti incorporates a wide variety of techniques in her works, including water colors, acrylics, oils and cut paper. With the birth of her third son, Ketti felt a strong need to re-engage in sculpture, a medium she neglected after graduating from art school. Sculpture represents a vital way for Ketti to realize her independence and freedom, which she experiences through contact with the material and the absolute freedom of creativity afforded to her when sculpting. Her works deal with the complexities inherent in the cycle of life, with an emphasis on harmonious couplehood, femininity and motherhood. The ideas reflected in her work are influenced by her personal life experiences. Ketti’s birth experience led her to contemplate questions regarding the transience of life, the human struggle for personal empowerment, and the innate need to create meaning in life while being aware of human fragility and weakness. As an optimist, Ketti has chosen to deal with these questions - and the very fact that man has limited control over his life – by commemorating the magic that exists in life›s fleeting moments. She does so by creating characters that depict situations of familial happiness, romantic love, mutual understanding, tranquility and contentment. Her work is characterized by soft, flowing, rounded and dynamic lines expressing the vitality, harmony and joy arising from her energetic nature. Ketti›s works take the viewer on an experiential and emotional journey as she strives to produce an environment of love, passion and optimism for future generations. Today Ketti›s work can be found in many private collections and public institutions around the world.
