Etruscan, c. 4th century BC., a very rare thick terra cotta ossuary in pale orange slip with front side adorned in high relief with 4 soldiers in the heat of battle, thrusting spears and swords and holding shields. The other three side of rectangular chest void of design and smooth. Second piece; the top is also in high detail and depicts the deceased lying on his or her side wearing a long and flowing gown. Some chipping and losses otherwise a very decorative and seldom offered piece. H: 14", L: 14", depth 7". Nice! Ex. Thadeus Bleeker Collection; collected in the UK in the early 1900's.
