JAPANESE IMARI PORCELAIN ARTICLES, LOT OF THREE, comprising two jars with covers and one dish, all having polychrome decorations. Painted floral and character marks on base, rim, and underside of cover on one jar, otherwise unmarked. Second half 19th/early 20th century. Jars 6" and 7 1/2" H.
Dish undamaged, one small chip on interior rim/flange of one jar base, restoration on finial of cover and restoration or manufacturing flaw on flange of the same cover. Manufacturing flaw on rim/flange of one jar and manufacturing hairline on rim of dish mostly filled with glaze.
Provenance: De-accessioned from the Reeves Collection, Washington and Lee University, and sold to benefit the Acquisitions Fund for all of the material.
