BASTIEN HANS MAFAIT 1769 CARVED OAK GRANDFATHER CLOCK, H 92":Carved swag, urn and vase motifs; brass and silver clock face; one lead weight. This clock does not have any winding holes in the dial. It has one weight on a chain. This one weight runs the clock and also makes the clock strike. It is the chain that winds the clock. This is most likely a 30 hour clock, which is considered a one day clock that allows you an extra 6 hours in case you forget to wind it.

There is a 1" chip to the wood, at the bottom right corner of the hood. There are some age cracks in the carvings at the top right and left sides of the hood, just above the access panels. There are a few minor nicks to the case from age and use. At the base of the case there is an age crack across the front panel. This crack can be seen in the first photo. The clock is not in working order. The pendulum does not keep its momentum. At the lower left part of the hood, there is a wood repair approx. 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" . The arm of the pendulum is slightly bent and the bob of the pendulum is badly bent. The glass on the front of the hood is not original.
