Southeast Asia, Thailand, Ayutthaya period, ca. 16th to 17th century CE. A lovely cast bronze head of a Buddha wearing an ornately decorated crown. The Buddha looks downward with a serene expression comprised of heavily-laden meditative eyes, a triangular nose, and closed lips. He presents characteristically elongated earlobes and a prominent flame ushnisha emerging from the top of his head. Mounted on a painted wooden base. Size: 1.25" L x 1.25" W x 2.375" H (3.2 cm x 3.2 cm x 6 cm); 3.5" H (8.9 cm) on included custom stand.
