LEADER’ Size: 14 inches (h)x 18 inches (w) only milboard Frame: 20 inches (h) x 23 inches (w) Atmospheric landscape with specific daylight effects; at times, Benjamin Williams Leader was, alongside with George Vicat Cole, one of the most successful landscape painters in Britain Who was Benjamin William Leader?: Benjamin Williams Leader studied at the Royal Academy in London and was very successful as a specialized landscape painter. He often depicted Wales and Scottish mountain landscapes. Besides his genre scenes of children or English land live were extremely sought after. The prepared millboard shows clear marks with material losses, where the frame has rubbed. The paint surface is craquelured, especially in the corners. Here, there are scattered areas of retouching, slightly visibly to the bare eye
