A well-preserved Medieval knobbed iron mace head, Eastern Europe, c. 13th - 14th Century, a variety of the Kiev knobbed mace, with four large spikes around a rectangular body, the upper and lower corners slightly extended into secondary knobs. 1 7/8 x 3 1/4 in (4.8 x 8.3 cm). A heavy mace and would have been quite effective against the armor of the time. Well-preserved with stable oxide patina. Ex Los Angeles private collection.
