Cased Set of Twelve Tiffany & Co. Sterling Silver Service Plates
the pattern introduced in 1916, New York, New York, each of circular form, the rim decorated with a band of ribboned oval paterae joined by laurel and floral bunting and garlands, with beaded inner and outer edge, presented in a fitted, cream satin-lined, dark greenish-gray leather case, the interior lid stamped "Tiffany & Co. / New York / Paris London", 11-1/2" x 24" x 13-1/2".
dia. 11"; 265.32 total t. oz.
Some expected light scuffs and dings on the plateaux consistent with occasional use, but no dents, deep
scratches or knife marks. Good detail and finish, with no evidence of later polishing/buffing, but the small
oval cartouches on the rim have a shallow depression where a monogram has evidently been buffed out.
The silver is not appreciably thinned, and the removal inconspicuous. Each piece marked (on the
underside) Tiffany & Co. / 19143A Makers 5222 / Sterling Silver / 925-1000 / m" and "11 In." The case
has some exterior scuffs, but no tears and is intact and sound. The interior is in good condition with some
soiling but no tears. In all, a handsome, well-presented set.
