Full plate (5.75" x 5") tintype of Civil War soldier Sergeant James G. York, Company F, 7th New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry. Image shows York in a bust view wearing 4-button sack coat wearing cross belt with eagle plate. York enlisted in 1861, was promoted to Sergeant in 1863 and was wounded at Drewry's Bluff in 1864 and was mustered out 7 months later in 1864. Image exhibits some tinting and slight darkening. Tintype presents a period paper matte that exhibits some staining. Image sold with photocopies of Yorks' pension file from the National Archives.
