Sixth plate ruby ambrotype of Civil War soldier Private Horace Brown, Company E, 10th New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry. Image shows Brown in bust view wearing a 9-button uniform jacket and kepi. Image is slightly tinted. Tape on pad is inscribed "Horace Brown, My Mother's Brother died in the army I was named for him" Brown enlisted in 1862 and died while in service from disease at a military hospital near Point of Rocks, Virginia on November 3, 1864. Image exhibits some light spotting with case exhibiting some weakness to hinge. Image sold with photocopies of Brown's pension file from the National Archives.
