Sixth plate tintype of Civil War soldier Private William Dailey, 7th Massachusetts Light Artillery. Image shows Dailey seated knees up wearing an artillery jacket with red trim and a large neck kerchief. Image is housed in half case with pencil inscription on backer of image "To Miss B. Fusan. William Dailey, 7th Battery MV 1864" Dailey enlisted in 1864 and was killed on June 30, 1865 near Waverly, Texas while helping to arrest a murderer. Image sold with photocopies of Dailey's pension file from the National Archives.
