TWO CONTINENTAL MINIATURE GILT METAL MOUNTED AND PAINTED ENAMEL WARES, POSSIBLY AUSTRIAN OR FRENCH, 19TH/20TH CENTURY, comprising a pear form pitcher with sides depicting nicely detailed and fashionably attired young couples, strolling about a park like setting, beneath puffy clouds continuing to a rounded rim interior centering Cupid wearing a billowing robe and holding aloft a flaming torch, opposite a gilt and polychrome enameled scrolling caryatid handle, raised on a conforming base with engraved spade leaf banding, height: 5"; a candle stand centering a polychrome enameled figural stem, surmounted by a vasiform nozzle above an engraved scrolling handle, on a painted circular dish depicting a courting youth and maiden with attendant musician, seated amongst trees and a distant romantic ruins landscape, within a scrolling floral detailed flaring rim, raised on curling band feet, height: 2".


The pitcher has expected areas of buildup and discolorations of metal parts, some areas of very faint crazing. The candlestand has same buildup and discolorations of metal parts. Overall in good shape.
