A SET OF FIVE AMERICAN FEDERAL STYLE SQUARE SHERATON FANCY BEEHIVE TURNED CHERRY RUSH SEAT DINING CHAIRS, POSSIBLY PENNSYLVANIA, CIRCA 1810, comprising two armchairs and three side chairs, each with curved, rolling pin and beehive turned crest rails, over reticulated horizontal splats with spherules, above a repeating rolling pin and beehive turned horizontal splat, above woven rush seats, the armchairs with flat, bowed arms, raised on a single post turned at the arms with an urn form, over tapered legs, to turned cuffs, terminating in slightly tapered feet. Armchair height: 33 1/4", width: 21 3/4", depth: 16"; Side chair height: 33 1/2", width: 17 3/4", depth: 15"
Some seats have some fray and unraveling of one seat. Typical surface wear including scratches, dents, and expected wear. Seats likely not original. Expected heavy wear near feet and rails, some chew marks. Mild wood fill repairs, but otherwise in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
