A LATE REGENCY CUBAN MAHOGANY AND ROSEWOOD BRASS MOUNTED LAP DESK ON STAND, ENGLISH, GEORGE IV(1820-1830)/WILLIAM IV (1830-1837), the rectangular top centering an inlaid cartouche within curved brass mounted corners, opening to a slanted, inset, gilt tooled, green leather writing surface, each side lifting open to interior paper storage, one side fitted with three interior secret drawers, topped by fitted ink and pen storage, flanked by a single, long side drawer, and two orientalized, flat front, inlaid brass handles, mounted as a swivel top on a stand with a wide, flat skirt, joining tapered, square legs. Some expected surface wear, patina on brass mounts, cracking of leather writing surface, added lattice style paper storage to lid interior, one piece of interior not attached but present, locks replaced, ink stains, some interior knobs broken, an inlaid repair at top, but overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
