AN AMERICAN ROCOCO REVIVAL GILTWOOD POLYCHROME DRESSING SCREEN, CIRCA 1900, in the New York taste, the crests carved with scrolls and leafy details, one side the upper panels are painted with cherubs and putti, each at play respectively with butterflies, a shell horn and riding a dolphin, and flower garlands, above three panels of Art Nouveau style beauties, one with a rose garland at play with a monarch butterfly, at center a beauty with diadem and garland of daisies, and the third holds a scythe and a bushel of wheat, all within a boarder of hand painted flourishes of rose buds and tendrils; the verso painted in the upper panels are hibiscus buds over larger panels of rose blooms, within a gold twisted, silk rope trim. Some craquelure throughout, mild surface cracks, darkened spots intermittently throughout, a few apparent professional repairs, some abrasion on the surface, and expected wear with mild losses, but overall in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
