A GEORGE III STYLE SATINWOOD INLAID MAHOGANY FIVE GLASS WHEEL BAROMETER, CIRCA 1820-1840, of baluster form with ebonized swan's neck pediment with turned bone scroll ends centering turned bone finial over hygrometer with silvered dial and brass bezel over an arch top thermometer with silvered plate within reeded edged wood bezel, atop reeded ebonized circular bezel fitted with convex mirror, the large center with silvered dial barometer dials with outer vernier scale and reticulated skeleton hands behind convex glass and brass bezel, the vernier with circular turned bone knob and brass tube, at the base a spirit level with silvered dial and brass bezel, the interior with reservoir tube and bent mercury tube, and wheel with sealed glass tube weight. With restoration to the veneer including patch over thermometer and crack between mirror and thermometer, old restoration and replacement of areas of stringing, surface indentations, rubbing, and wear commensurate with age and use.
