A GERMAN BLACK FOREST CUCKOO CLOCK, "Bears at Play by the Farm House," BY D. HONES, TITISEE-NEUSTADT, LATE 20TH CENTURY, after the traditional architecture of the Hofgut Sternen haus in Breitnau, the kuckucksuhr with an upper balcony of dancing couples, centering a cuckoo door opening to a chirping bird, above two windows with pierced flowering balconies, over a large dial with Roman numeral marks, the yard filled with naughty bears at play, two on a seesaw, and three mischievious bears on a merry-go-round, in a landscape of chopped wood, and hand carved black forest pine trees, fronted by a red, yellow and white flower and rock encrusted entrance, within a leafy carved edge; German clockworks, Swiss Saint-Croix music box plays Edelweiss and Der frohliche Wanderer. Height: 14 1/2" Width: 15 1/2" Depth: 10 1/4"

Condition

Has three pinecone weights, mild surface wear . and occasional chips to carving, pendulum possibly now lacking, plays music, but hour hand appears loose, overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
