  • Title: Egyptian Carnelian Amulet, Isis Knot or Girdle, c. 300 B.C.
  • Date & Origin: Egypt, c. 300 B.C.
  • Shape of an Ankh but with arms folded in a knot to the sides. Loop at the top for suspension.

    This sign is also called Tet by the ancient Egyptians. It resembles the Ankh except that the arms are folded downwards. When combined the two symbols alluded, via Isis and Osiris, to the unity of two opposing world forces and with that to the unconquerable nature of life.
  • Material: Carnelian
  • Dimensions: 3.3 cm L - 1 5/16 inches
  • Provenance: English private collection acquired by the previous owner's great grandfather whose collection was formed in the 19th century. This item comes with a Certificate of Authenticity
