Lithograph by Kris Peterson, approx. 27x 21 in. Born in Michigan, Kris Peterson began her career as an engineering manager at General Motors. But in 1994, tired of the corporate life, she did the improbable and began a new life in Venice, Italy. Her philosophy of 'just hold your nose and jump' is not only the way she lives her life but is evident in her art. Amid the ancient buildings and watery streets of Venice she studied glassblowing and watercolor painting. While in Italy she began a new venture working as the director for a chain of fine art galleries. Although best known in Europe for her photographs with the trademark dramatic skies reminiscent of the old masters, the association with hundreds of international artists and the exposure to those many artistic voices was instrumental in her evolution from photography to painting. While experimenting with various ideas and techniques it became apparent to her that a single medium was not sufficient for her. 'I love the free flow of watercolor but need more precision' said Peterson.
