Lot 0054
Colt Model 1849 Pocket Percussion Revolver. serial #300733, .31 cal., 4" octagon barrel with an oxidized and pitted bore. This 1868 made one line address revolver is predominately brown with a mix of pewter and traces of original blue found on the bottom flat and protected areas of the barrel. The gun exhibits a few areas of very light cleaning along with scratches, dents, pitting and oxidation stains. The backstrap and large triggerguard strap are ochre with few wisps of silver plate in the protected areas and a few light handling marks. The smooth one-piece walnut grips have been lightly cleaned with reapplied varnish leaving the grip frame slightly proud of the wood and a few gaps at the top in addition to light handling marks and dings. Any numbers on the grips are no longer visible plus the wedge is un-numbered as is the loading lever (not uncommon on one line guns) but all other parts are correctly numbered to the gun. The barrel and frame have correct markings for the period of manufacture and the stagecoach scene is soft but visible. The little pocket revolver is still fully functional but the barrel-to-frame fit is slightly loose. (86520-3918) {ANTIQUE} [Richard "Stretch" Kennedy Collection]
