This is an original G.C. (Gerry) Wentworth bronze titled "Buffalo Skull". Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. In 1981, he won Best of Show at the Northwest Americana Art Show. This bronze shows a wonderful depiction of the Buffalo Skull, a true icon of the American West. The piece shows fantastic detail and artistic ability. the bronze has been mounted to a solid oak hardwood plaque. The brass placard reads "Buffalo Skull G.C. Wentworth". The sculpture bears the artist's signature. It is dated "1974" and is numbered 5/50. The bronze is in very good condition. It measures 6" x 8". The sculpture comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a printed biography of the artist.
