Grisaille Chinese Forrest Scroll Painting on paper, laid to silk. Two farmers are reclined by the forests edge next to two large oxen resting on all-fours beneath the beating sun. Because of their importance to agriculture, the water buffalo or ox (niu) symbolizes springtime, harvest and fertility. Cursive calligraphy with an official iron-red seal is inscribed on the scroll. Very old scroll attached to a pale-colored silk matt border. This scroll is attached to a single di-gan rod and upper tian gan rod where a ribbon is affixed so that they can be hung.

Over all in EXCELLENT Condition. Natural imperfection on the medium (paper or silk), regardless from any major damages; includes light blooms, discoloration and minor fading; Consider normal due to the ages.
