Lot 0149
19th C. Antique Intricate two-piece Chinese Zitan roundtable. This table is bisected to form two separate semi-circular tables and can be put together to form a singular counter. A concentric support made of geometric tessellations radiates outward at the base to connect all four legs which maintains the structures rigidity. The tables skirt is carved into a conglomeration of Lingzhi fungus that creates a unique pattern. The lumber is blackish-purple in hue, and its fibers are loaded with deep red pigments which have been used for dye throughout the ages. The fine surface of the wood grain is especially suitable for intricate carvings as can be seen on this one of a kind table.
