Description
Pair of 18th C. Chinese Tibetan Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1912) gilt bronze seated Buddha. One with the right hand is extended across the knee with the palm facing outward in the mudra (gesture) of supreme generosity. The left hand placed in the lap performs the mudra of meditation. Both Buddha are sitting in a Vajra posture resembles meditation, and wisdom which is like the posture used by Buddha while sitting beneath the bodhi tree where enlightenment was achieved. Resting atop a billowing cloud-form pedestal with taotie mask being lifted by humans and elephant. The effigies bodies are covered in diaphanous robes, this Buddha presents a peaceful presence. His head is topped with the traditional bun adorned at the apex by a single ornament and his ears have been traditionally pierced and elongated. Bronze is in beautiful condition with minimal marring of the surface.
Other, with the right hand is held up to the heart and the left rests in the lap. He wears jewel ornaments and garments with the over all appearance of a peaceful deity seated in a vajra-cross legged posture.
Underside with incised quatrefoil flora-form petal visvavajra surrounding the centralized DaiJi.

Over all in EXCELLENT condition, with normal anomalies in nature, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dent. Surface traced wear and or declined to gilding; Normal, considering ages and wears.
