Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, ca. mid to late 19th century CE. A finely-crafted food pounder, meticulously-carved from a mottled blue-grey stone with light inclusions. The pounder has a slender, tapering handle with a bulb-shaped end, an extended shoulder, and a wide conical pounding head with a flat face. The smoothness of the pounding face as well as the handle indicates its extensive use. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 8.25" H (21 cm); 9.5" H (24.1 cm) on included custom stand.
