Painted Porcelain Miniature Beauty Portrait Plaque Helena Potocka After Salvatore Tonci Painting

Antique KPM quality hand painted portrait plaque, miniature copy from the original c1780-1790 pastel painting, mounted into the vintage frame.
Depicting Helena Apolonia Potocka, nŽe Massalska, de Ligne (1763Ð1815).
Orphaned as a child, Helena was raised by her paternal uncle, bishop of Vilnius, Prince Ignacy J—zef Massalski, she received good education in Paris and married Charles Joseph Emanuel de Ligne (1759 - 1792), the son of the 7th Prince de Ligne, an Austrian field marshal, but this marriage broke down.
Arrived in Poland, at the court of Stanis_aw August; a love affair with Court Chamberlain Wincenty Potocki (1740 - 1825) led to divorce with his wife and their wedding in 1792.
Was mistress to Jozef Anton Poniatowski (1763-1813), a nephew of the King of Poland.
Far from being a saint, she is portrayed as symbol of innocence by Russian (Italian born) artist Nikolai Ivanovich ( Salvatore) Tonci (1756 - 1844).

Plaque is about 3 1/2 x 2 3/4 inches; 4 7/8 x 4 inches framed without the hanger.


Very good vintage condition. This item has not been expected out of itÕs frame therefore is listed as KPM style.
