A 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SEL purchased new by Elvis Presley and retained until his death, repainted Alpha Crystal Blue Metallic to match Presley’s 1970 Mercedes-Benz 600. The car is powered by a fuel injected 2778cc, 169.5 cid 6-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower and 193 foot-pounds of torque. Also equipped with options: automatic 4-speed transmission, power brakes, power steering, power windows, air conditioning, and Becker Europa AM/FM radio with 8-track player.
Presley loved cars. He owned many and gave many away. But not this one; this was his getaway car. Known for his love of Cadillacs, Presley needed something incognito when he wanted to sneak out of Graceland. The vehicle went from Presley’s garage to a museum, where it has been on display for 40 years. Accompanied by documentation from the purchase, including bill of sale, registration and other executed paperwork as well as a photograph of the car in front of the Graceland estate.
