After Germain Pilon (French 1525-1590). It was possibly cast by the Ferdinand Barbedienne Foundry in the third quarter of 19th century. Bronze group representing the mythological Three Graces. The Graces were daughters of Zeus, the King of the gods, and in Greek Mythology they were represented by: Aglaia, the Grace that symbolized Beauty, Euphrosyne, the Grace of Delight and Thalia. The very embodiment of grace, these figures were cast after the model by Germain Pilon, who was considered, together with Jean Goujon, as the greatest 16th-century French sculptor. Measures 14 ½ inches tall. Rich dark brown patina.
