Lot 2041001
A George II Long Case Clock. John Andrews, London, bearing a faux tortoise shell lacquer with gilt Japanning throughout, circa 1740. Susanin's will not comment on the working condition of any watch or clock movement. 95" x 20.5" x 10"

The clock case is in overall good condition. The case sustains very minor spots of paint and gilding loss, exposing the gesso under layer beneath. The areas of loss are along the center of the door, the square face on the bonnet, and along the sides of the case. The round glass panel in the door is cracked all the way through, and again in two spots on either side of each other. The bonnet sustains a horizontal crack which has been retouched at some point, as evidenced by the uneven paint and gloss.

*In all cases, prospective buyers are responsible for determining the physical condition of lots, as there are no returns based on condition. The printed conditions in the catalog entry are based on opinion only and are provided for guidance only, without legal obligation. The absence of condition reports in the catalog entry does not indicate that the item is in perfect condition.
