Lot 0008
6 ¾”h., Brilliant blue, soda lime, chestnut shaped body patterned in 19 vertical ribs, elongated neck with sheared lip, pontil scar; America or Europe, c. 1790-1820, mint condition; the nineteen rib is attributed to the Midwest, Maryland and New Jersey. If this flask was made in Europe, which is possible, it is certainly not part of a mass production run, like the many half- pint pattern -molded flasks with flanged collar from Norway and Germany ; this flask is scarce if not rare in any case, an absolute beauty of a blue bottle and probably much rarer than we know!!! ( new photo added of base wear)
