An early Victorian gold shell cameo brooch. Of oval outline, carved to depict Dionysus, within a scrolling floral surround, together with three mounts. Two AF. Two with hallmarks for 9ct gold. Length of cameo 5.2cms. Length of mounts 2.4 to 3.3cms. Total weight 18.7gms.

Condition

  • Overall condition fair. Surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Cameo brooch with glazed panel deficient.
  • One mount is split, will require attention.
  • Shell cameo is in fair to poor condition with significant cracks and noticeable chips to the edges.

  • One mount stamped 9CT.
  • Two mounts hallmarked for 9ct gold.
