Lot 0071

A rare decorated version of the Applicanten Bayonet which was issued to apprentices of NCO rank who were in training for administrative and technical assignments. Gilt brass hilt and crossguard bearing an anchor and cabestan-shaped finials. The handle has a finely made imperial crown at the top, and spine is covered with oak leaves decorations. Black leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts, finely decorated with oak leaves and fish scales style design. Double edged blade with two fullers on each side and rectangle-shaped etched plate, most likely the owners name would have been engrave there. The original red felt blade buffer is in place.
