The handle of white plastic, with deep grooves, with brass ring at the bottom, through which dagger release button is installed. Round brass pommel with stamped State seal of the GDR. crossguard finials are acorn shaped. All metal parts of the hilt are gilded brass. Straight, diamond shaped blade is nickel plated, with two grooves, stamped serial No. 1155 is stamped on the ricasso. Metal, black painted scabbard, with brass giled fittings, mouth fitting has the state seal of the GDR and a oak leaf with an acorn. The dagger is equipped with four sets of hangers. Hangers has two straps with carabiners at the bottom and top. Straps are of golden brocade on wool lining, red for the army, blue for aviation, black for the navy, and green for the border guards. Each hanger has gilded buckles decorated with oak leaves.
