⁂ Second edition of this influential work advocating for the establishment of a sort of colony for the poor which would be maintained by the agricultural and manufacturing work of the inhabitants. Many of Bellers' ideas were ahead of his time and influenced both Karl Marx (who refers to Bellers at least four times in Das Kapital) and Robert Owen.
