Morelos, MX Large Standing Tlatilco Female Figure. Type D2, 1200-800 BCE. Buff clay, hand modeled and with appliques. Height: 5 5/8 in. (excluding mount, figure only). In very fine condition overall; both lower legs have been cleanly broken and glued back into place with minimal loss. The right foot shows some minimal loss to the toes. Provenance: private Midwestern USA collection. Custom mount. This figure is a perfect example of the direct relationship between Middle horizon Xochipala culture solid figurines of Guerrero and the Tlatilco culture in Morelos State, Mexico. The facial modeling is far more akin with the Guerrero figurines than with the village cultures of the Valley of Mexico.
