Scarce Deluxe volumes of these wonderfully illustrated tales. A total of 24 (of 28) fables rendered. While the source of the tales and the publisher are French, the book is a fine expression of Japonisme that swept the Western World in the late 19th century, and is very much in the style of a Kobunsha or Hasegawa publication of the same period.
