Outstanding Quality July 17, 1775 Three Pounds / 60 Shillings / Twenty Crowns “Triple Denominated” Note
Virginia. July 17, 1775. Three Pounds / 60 Shillings / Twenty Crowns. Triple Denominated. Choice Crisp Extremely Fine.
Fr. VA-79a. A very pleasing, problem-free lightly circulated note that is superior to most seen on this issue. The highest denomination, it is close in appearance the Eric Newman illustration plate note for this issue shown on page 444 of the 5th edition of, THE EARLY PAPER MONEY OF AMERICA. Similar to that Two Pounds denomination note it is trimmed to show to the outer margins has sharp printing. This current example even has some slight original press text embossing present. Strong clear signatures and clean heavy fiber period paper provide superior eye appeal. Some blue cotton fibers seen clearly within the blank reverse side paper. Collectors should check on this Three Pounds denomination, as this scarce note is likely needed.
