Treasury of Virginia. October 16, 1780. “An Act for the more effectual and Speedy Clothing the Army” Issue. Three Hundred Dollars. Printed on Thin Laid Paper. PMG graded Choice Fine-15.
Fr. VA-199. This 1780 “Clothing the Army” issue is perhaps the most historic Revolutionary War patriotic series on Virginia. One of only 1,500 notes printed. The printed text stating the noble cause towards “An Act for the more effectual and Speedy Clothing the Army.” All notes on this issue are extremely rare in any quality and are lacking in most collections. Net graded as there are some repairs to portions of the left and top outer designs and to some text at the upper left. Overall, this important Virginia “Clothing the Army” note has a whole and complete appearance with solid eye appeal for its graded quality. Signers include; B. Webb, J. Hopkins and James Turner. Rarely ever available, this is one issue we believe to be of a greater value than as listed in the Newman reference on page 454. Conservatively graded having the choice eye appeal of Very Fine.
