1832 Dated George “Washington” Centennial Silk Ribbon
1832-Dated, George Washington Centennial Printed Silk Ribbon, “Centennial Celebration.” Very Fine.
A wonderful early style designed Commemorative Silk Ribbon which measures about 7.25” x 2”. Listed as Sullivan/Fischer GW-3. Printed in black on off-white Silk. Center Design: A Heraldic American Eagle with Shield, a spray of Olive Leaves and Arrows, and a scroll inscribed with a highlighted “WASHINGTON.” Above: Decorative “Centennial Celebration” on a scalloped shell; Below: an Oval Bust Portrait of Washington within a large floral circular frame with “1832” immediately beneath. Light tone to the silk with minor expected fraying at bottom and right outer margin edge, not affecting or near any images. All printing is sharp and clear making this choice design particularly desirable for display.
