Late Federal Era Blue/Green Painted Wooden Canteen With Black Painted Owner’s Name of “J. GAMBER"
c. 1830, Blue/Green Painted Wooden Militia Style Canteen with Stamped Owner’s Name: “J. GAMBER", Choice Fine.
Wooden Canteen with metal hoops, as usual absent its wooden stopper plug. This Canteen measures 7" in diameter x 3" thick with its original Blue/Green Paint, and original woven cotton carrying strap which is toned tan-brown. On one side is the black painted name of the previous owner: “J. GAMBER." The original Paint has somewhat aged and faded in places attesting to its originality. Metal hoops with original rust-brown patina. Overall a lovely naturally aged early 1830 militia style wooden canteen that has a nice appearance for display.
