Rare Civil War Era Child Size Marine/Naval Officer Tunic
c. 1860 Civil War Era, Child Size Union Marine/Naval Officer Tunic with Eight (8) “Horstmann Bros & Co.” ornate brass Buttons, Choice Extremely Fine.
c. 1860 Civil War Child Size Union Marine/Naval Officer Tunic. Perhaps made for the son of an officer, this deep black sewn woolen Tunic measures 14” across the shoulders, 11” cuff to armpit, and has 11” “tails”. Tunic is black wool with black polished cotton liner. There are Six (6) 20mm Horstmann Bros & Co. ornate brass Buttons (1859-1863) on the front, and Two (2) more on the back just above the tails, making the total of Eight (8) buttons. Each button has a design displaying an American Eagle perched upon a Naval Anchor. Essentially Very Rare. The first of this unusual Child’s size Tunic we have offered. It is a remarkable item in choice quality, excellent for any Civil War Union Marine/Naval Officer display.
