Colored man Sentenced to “five years in the Penitentiary”
February 1819-Dated, Manuscript Verdict and Sentencing Document, Baltimore, Maryland, Very Fine.
This original 8” x 6.5” Manuscript Document, being a Verdict and Sentencing Document for “Francis Fernandez Colored man”, for stealing one piece of black silk from Lydia Truelock. The silk was valued at “Twenty Two Dollars”. Fernandez was found Guilty and sentenced to “five years in the penitentiary, for said offence, one twentieth part in Solitary Confinement”.
