Lin was born in China in 1966, where she practiced illustration from an early age. She notes that at the root of her art today is still the humanity and humbleness of her mother’s drawings, embroidery and fashion design which inspired in her an appreciation of the aesthetic. Dramatic changes in her childhood as well as the turning seasons and thin light of the northern climes also ignited in her a desire to represent the mystery of nature (and its memory) in the colors, forms and textures of her work.
Lin recalls feeling intertwined with the flowing free lines of the world-famous Yangtze River at the time she was picking up her brush. Her work seeks to reimagine a style that carries on the traditions of Nature captured in the woodcarving, sculpture, exquisite furniture, and architecture which are part of China’s rich history.
Lin considers those arts to be, in a way, integrated with Nature in their marriage of form and function, the human and the larger world. They energize her work with an organic element as well as a sentiment that is personal and yet inspired by the universal. She offers her creativity as a light to those who need inspiration to rise above the daily difficulties in order to reach the center of life and its love as it exists in our memories of enrapturing nature and humanity.
Thus Lin’s work involves a kind of free-flowing method which opens a door to the subconscious. Employing various media and light-touch techniques, she paints paths that reach from the known to an unknown world of the mind. She challenges herself by listening to the calling of innovation for each artwork in order to make each one unique and alive, thus she often does not duplicate a style but relentlessly evolves.
Lin’s artwork has been collected by public galleries as well as individuals in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, China, Germany, Denmark, as well as others. She has enjoyed numerous exhibitions of her drawings, paintings, 2D Design and Graphic Design work for several decades in China and America beginning in the 1980’s. Lin moved to the USA in 2006 and continually practices various form of art, and through creativity she brings life to each of her art works.
