Stan Robinson, 1927 – 1999. His uni-directional brush stroke over a roughly textured canvas is his trademark. It’s as familiar to Robinson art lovers as the subjects he paints - North Carolina’s Outer Banks and Biblical themes.
From depicting a ship at sea to a child discovering a sand crab on the beach, his style is the same…bold, intense, brimming with life and vitality. One moment moody and restless as the sea itself, then serene as dawn’s first glimmer over a sea of silver grass. His message is clear - Life is an endless wonder, a precious gift from a magnificent Creator to His creation. Robison graduated Phoenix School of Design (NYC), and worked as an art director for a New York art studio. He moved to North Carolina with his wife. His work is in the South Carolina Museum of Art, and Museum of the Albermarle.
