COLLECTION OF 14 PRE-COLUMBIAN ARTIFACTS - Includes: a double spouted vessel 4 1/2” H x 7” W (rim and one spout have losses); a red-slipped & incised tripod vessel 3 1/2” H (losses to rim); a small animal effigy handled pot (looks like a cat) 2” H (from Columbia, good condition for its age with minor roughages); an effigy vessel with missing head 3 1/2” H (losses to head and one foot and arm); a orange-slipped Cholulteca Puebla bowl 4 1/2” diameter x 2” H (1 1/2” chip along rim); a figure wearing a bird effigy headdress 4 1/4” H (has a few cracks running along figure, but artifact is still intact); a globular high-necked vessel with oxidized slip 5 1/8” H (losses to rim and to appliqué decoration); an animal effigy pierced tripod vessel 3” H (missing a mammiform support and losses to rim); an orange-slipped tripod bowl 2 5/8” H x 6” diameter; an black-slipped bowl 3” H x 5 1/2” diameter (a few chips along rim, earthen deposits present); two utilitarian undecorated bowls with tripod supports (approx. 8” diameter x 2 3/4” H); and two olla vessels with strap handles, gray 4” H, plain 2 3/4” (each has some chips to rim and roughages consistent with age and use). Provenance: Items in this lot are from the estate of South Florida collector J. J. Schmidt Jr. Each of these items were acquired before 1970.
