This particular piece is also signed by Tatiana Faberge, great grand-daughter of Peter Carl Faberge.The outside of this egg is deep ruby-red enamel with a band of handset Austrian crystals encircling the eggs perimeter. Inside, the egg contains an oval of matte white with a matte yellow yolk. The yolk opens to disclose a brightly enameled hen that opens to reveal a tiny portrait, propped on an easel, of Czarevich Alexei. Marked FABERGE on the interior lid of the egg.The egg stand is a five footed oval with a flower garland swag between each leg. Each flower is set with a crystal in its center.The egg measures (at its widest points) 2 5/8 x 1 7/8". The stand is 3 3/8 x 2 1/2" x 1 7/8" tall. Overall height of egg in stand is approximately 3 1/4" The hen measures 1" tall x 3/4" wide. The easel and portrait stand 1 1/8" tall x 3/8 wide. The entire set weighs 12 1/2 ounces. Mint condition with no damage to any of the enamels and no missing crystals.Extremely high quality reproduction almost exactly faithful to the original. Comes in its original blue velvet, white satin lined fitted box, a card describing the history of the original egg and the details of the reproduced egg, as well as a certificate of authenticity.Faberge made quite a few reproductions, but this egg is rarely seen on the secondary markets.
