This Eocene fossil sculpture is a rare two-in-one occurrence that contains an impressive 21-in. Notogoneus osculus fossilized fish on one side and a fossilized 4.75-in. Diplomystus dentatus on the other, discovered in the Green River Formation. Notogoneus osculus is an extinct ray-finned genus, one of a group called sand fish, bottom feeders that likely consumed plants and decaying organisms. Diplomystus is an extinct genus of freshwater fish distantly related to modern herrings and sardines. Mounted standing on a custom wooden base.
