WILLIAM AND MARY-STYLE CARVED AND INLAID OAK LINEN CUPBOARD, upper drawer over two hinged cabinet doors concealing two full drawers, raised on compressed-ball feet, extensive applied moldings and split-baluster decoration throughout, unusual inlaid panels featuring ebony and other exotic materials. Old surface with rich color. Probably 19th century. 40" H, 43" W, 23 3/4" D.
Very good overall visual condition with scattered wear and small losses.

Catalogue Note: The present cupboard retains a note dated April 16, 1962 from John Sweeney, then Curator at Winterthur, describing their wood analysis of the piece. According to Mr. Sweeney, the wood is white oak and possibly of American or French-Canadian origin. According to the consignor, the piece was purchased at an antique shop in Cape Vincent, NY.
