Baker & America at War" | This is the First Edition of this numbered limited edition book - numbered 955/996 | This rare book is hand signed by both the author Frederick Palmer as well as Secretary Newton D. Baker (1871-1937) | Baker served as the 37th mayor of Cleveland, Ohio from 1912 to 1915, and the U.S. Secretary of War from 1916 to 1921 | As the U.S. Secretary of War, Baker presided over the United States Army during World War I | This two volume book, Newton D. Baker & America at War, by Frederick Palmer (1873-1958), was published by Dodd, Mead & Company in 1931, numbered limited edition (955/996) and signed by Baker and Palmer on the limitation page. The books are leather bound (matching) with gold gilt decoration throughout the cover, with a 4 ribbed gold gilded spine | Good condition with some shelf wear and rubbing to the margins at the spines.
