Lot 0238
19th century German Faschinenmesser (Fascine Knife) brass hilt short sword. This is a scarce variation with a saw back blade. 24 1/4" overall with a 19" fullered blade with a serrated false edge. Quillon is marked with an "R". Blade has a dark patina with scattered pitting. Scabbard is leather over wood, and throat and chape are brass. Frog stud is oval. The scabbard is more contemporary than the sword. A hard example to find. Very Good
